The Bureau of Statistics today said that it will be conducting a pilot survey for the regional round of 2010 Population and Housing Census. This project will be executed by the Bureau’s personnel in six of the ten administrative regions, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and10.
The draft census questionnaires will be administered to 10 households randomly selected from each Enumeration District (ED) of the regions. The pilot will see the inclusion of 320 households out of a national total of 182, 602 households.
The goal of the pilot survey is to improve the census procedures by testing the entire operation. The results will allow the census personnel to refine and or redesign processes or strategies which will then be incorporated for the purpose of improving the census exercise.
Guyana’s Housing and Census results are used for planning, budgeting and analytical purposes, as well as to for assisting the regional grouping of Caricom in its policy-making capacity. The last national census was carried out in 2000.
