Beware of Housing Scams on Social Media

The Ministry of Housing – Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) is again reminding citizens to remain vigilant against scammers who are using various social media platforms, including TikTok and Facebook Messenger, to defraud unsuspecting persons.

Reports indicate that individuals are being contacted and lured into making payments for house lots and housing units through unofficial channels. The Ministry wishes to make it clear that allocations and official communication with applicants are conducted only through the Ministry’s established and verified channels.

The public is also reminded that payments for house lots and lands are only accepted at the Ministry’s main office or its regional offices. The Ministry does not accept payments for allocation and housing units through MMG  mobile or other unofficial methods.

The most recent telephone number reportedly being used in these fraudulent schemes is
755-5595.

Citizens are therefore urged to exercise caution when conducting any transaction related to housing matters. If you are contacted with requests for payment or encounter any suspicious activity involvingensuring the Ministry, please report the matter immediately to the Guyana Police Force or the CH&PA’s Enforcement Department.

The Ministry remains committed to protecting the public and encourages all applicants to verify information through official channels before taking any action.
