Illegal Structures Demolished in Onderneeming and Airy Hall
The Enforcement Department of the Ministry of Housing – Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) conducted a demolition exercise this morning at Airy Hall Nursery School Street, Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast, Region Two.
During the operation, four unoccupied structures and ten chain-link fences were demolished in Tracts A and B, Onderneeming. Additionally, approximately sixty wooden posts were removed from the area.
The exercise forms part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to curb squatting across the country and serves as a clear reminder that illegal occupation of lands will not be condoned.
Investigations revealed that the area includes a drainage reserve as well as portions of private land. Information received from a resident also suggests that a man identified as Nandkishore Singh is reportedly in the process of selling portions of land within the area.
The Ministry and CH&PA continue to urge members of the public to verify land ownership and refrain from engaging in illegal land transactions.
